Yong Ji Dim Sum has quite a large selection of dim sum available for sale.
Lo Mai Gai
This lo mai gai is the Singapore Malaysia style type, not the Hong Kong type that is wrapped in a lotus leaf. This lo mai gai has soft glutinous rice topped with tender chicken meat and a slice of mushroom. It has a savoury taste and is fairly nice.
The fan choy has steamed flavoured rice topped with char siew slices and a small piece of boiled egg. The rice is probably undercooked as it is a bit hard. The char siew slices are rather rough and tastes stale. Honestly this is quite bad.
The siu mai is the local Singapore Malaysia style type with a minced pork filling and no prawns. It has tiny bits of water chestnut bits in its meat filling. Tastes decent.
For the har gao, it has prawns filling inside its translucent white skin. The prawns are not exactly fresh and tastes quite bland. Not exactly a nice har gow in my opinion.
Fried Yam Cake
This slice of fried yam cake has crispy sides and and soft insides. Tastes fairly decent too, but the centre outer parts are a bit soft. It would have been nicer if the centre parts are crispy too. Just average.
The fried wanton has a nice crispy skin wrapper with soft fish meat filling inside. Mildly savoury in tastes. Quite likeable.
The egg tart has a flaky crust but it isn’t exactly the crispy type of flakiness. The custard filling is lightly sweet but is kind of bland. I prefer something with stronger flavours. Average.
