Yit Lim Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken
sells soya sauce chicken, char siew and siu yuk with rice, noodles or hor fun.
Soya Sauce Chicken
This soya sauce chicken is available in noodles, hor fun or rice. Hor fun is chosen here. The hor fun is quite smooth and uses a dark soya sauce based seasoning with rather nice flavours. The soy sauce chicken has fairly smooth and juicy meat, and its skin is smooth with nice savoury flavours of soya sauce. Very nice! Comes served with some vegetables and a small bowl of soup on the side.
This is definitely a nice soy sauce chicken. Probably explains the queue in front of the stall. I like it!
Wanton Mee
Besides their signature soya sauce chicken, Yit Lim Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken sells char siew and siu yuk as well as wanton mee. This is their wanton mee with extra siu yuk added.
The char siew is the lean meat type, meaty with a very mild sweet taste and a bit dry. It is kind of disappointing. The siu yuk on the other hand is meaty and juicy with nice flavour flavours. It has a nice crispy and crunchy skin, and light savoury flavours. The roast pork is definitely better than the char siew here.
The noodles are springy with a very mild hint of alkaline tastes which is mostly covered up by its soya sauce and lard seasoning. It tastes pretty decent when thoroughly mixed with the seasoning sauce. The noodles comes served with some vegetables as well.
Accompanying the plate of noodles is a small bowl of wanton soup. The soup has a light savoury taste. As for the wanton, it has a soft skin wrapper with very nicely flavoured meat filling that has a light peppery taste. Very nice!
The char siew is skippable, but the siu yuk and wanton are nice. Can probably order siu yuk noodles with wanton soup the next time. Except for the char siew, the rest are very likeable.
