Vegetarian Fried Mee Hoon

Su Yuan Vegetarian is a hugely popular vegetarian stall selling the usual fried mee hoon and fried noodles. The fried mee hoon is the white type and the fried noodles uses the thin yellow noodles. Both comes with a choice of braised sauce, curry sauce or just plain on its own without any added sauce.

Their regular serving comes with an assortment of mock meats: char siew slices, crispy goose, pig’s ear, tofu fish cake and crispy fu chuk with some fried vegetables added. The spring roll is an extra add on.

The char siew has mild smokey flavours and a nice firm texture. Likewise for the pig’s ear, it has nice smokey flavours. The tofu fish cake slices has a light savour taste and tastes quite like the real thing. The crispy goose is really nice, crispy and fluffy. Similarly, the fu chuk is crispy with a mildly sweet taste. The added spring roll is has a crispy chewy skin with nicely flavoured fillings. The fried vegetables tastes decent too. Comes served with an optional chilli paste on the side which has both salty and slightly sweet flavours.

Both the fried vegetarian mee hoon and fried noodles are likeable and the fried crispy goose is good. This is a very popular stall in the neighbourhood, be prepared for a half-hour wait during peak period.
