Ah Xi Prawn Crackers dishes out pretty good Fuzhou style fried fritter cakes. They have two stalls. Both are located within Beo Crescent area. One is in a coffeeshop and another in Beo Crescent Food Centre. A tip: these are freshly made at the stall located in the coffeeshop.

Prawn Cake

Oyster Cake

Minced Pork Cake

This snack comes with a choice of prawn, oyster or minced pork. The flour batter itself is good. It is deep fried until there is a golden brown crisp on the outside, yet it is soft inside with either oyster or minced pork filling inside. The exception is their signature prawn crackers which doesn’t contain any fillings. Instead it has a whole unshelled prawn with at its top, which is fried until it is so crispy that you can eat the whole prawn including its shell. All three choices are nice, though personally I prefer their prawn cake a little bit more.

Fried Mee Hoon

Besides the fried fritter cakes, fried mee hoon and fried noodles with a selection of sides is also available. The fried mee hoon seen above has a fried chicken wing added.

The fried mee hoon is moist with nice flavourings. The fried noodles is a bit soft and has decent flavours. The fried kway teow is firm with decent flavourings too, but a bit oily. As for the fried chicken wing, it has a nice savoury tasting seasoning but its skin is mostly soft with just small pockets of crispiness. Decent but quite ordinary.
